Von Miller, a DeSoto native and former Texas A&M player, has signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys valued at $5.5 million, which may rise to $7.5 million through performance incentives. This signing is particularly significant for Miller, who is eager to represent his hometown team.

At 37 years old, Miller showcased his skills last season by recording nine sacks. His impressive career includes two Super Bowl victories, seven All-Pro selections, and eight Pro Bowl appearances, making him a valuable addition to the Cowboys' roster.

Although some analysts believe this signing may not be the major trade anticipated to improve the pass rush, Miller's addition is expected to enhance the team's outside linebacker (OLB) depth. The Cowboys are projected to have six OLBs on their 53-man roster, along with two additional players on the practice squad.

The expected starters are Rashan Gary and Donovan Ezeiruaku, with Miller and Malachi Lawrence serving as key backups. James Houston is likely to make the roster due to his contributions last season, especially on special teams.

The final OLB position remains competitive, with Sam Williams and Marist Liufau vying for the spot, the latter having an advantage due to his versatility and special teams performance last year. The anticipated OLB depth chart includes Gary, Ezeiruaku, Lawrence, Miller, Houston, and Liufau.
