The Houston Texans are facing uncertainty regarding wide receiver Tank Dell's availability for the upcoming season opener. Reports indicate that Dell is unlikely to be ready for the team's first game, as he has only engaged in individual drills and a few team exercises since starting practice during the second week of training camp.

Dell has not participated in practices observed by the media, which raises further concerns about his readiness. While two league sources have stated that he has not encountered any setbacks, he is still unable to practice consistently. With the final preseason game approaching and only three weeks remaining before the season opener on September 13, his status remains unclear.

This situation may prompt the Texans to include seven wide receivers on their 53-man roster while they await Dell's full recovery.

Additionally, the Texans are dealing with the impact of Jayden Higgins' ACL injury, which complicates the search for a No. 2 wide receiver to play alongside Nico Collins. Candidates such as Xavier Hutchinson, who showed progress last season, and Jaylin Noel, recognized for his playmaking skills, are now vying for that position.

Although there is optimism for Dell's return to his explosive form, it is uncertain when he will be able to contribute effectively on the field.
