The Houston Texans are adjusting their roster ahead of the 2026 NFL season following the injury of wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who has been placed on injured reserve due to a torn ACL.
Higgins was anticipated to be a key player as the team's No. 2 receiver, but his absence has led the Texans to consider adding depth at the position, particularly as other receivers, Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell, are also facing injuries.
To address these challenges, the Texans are reportedly exploring options in free agency, specifically targeting veteran wide receivers Josh Reynolds and Zay Jones. Reynolds, who previously played for the Detroit Lions, had a productive 2023 season with 40 receptions for 608 yards and five touchdowns. Meanwhile, Zay Jones, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars, recorded 82 catches for 823 yards and five touchdowns in 2022.
The Texans are actively conducting workouts for free agent receivers, with both Reynolds and Jones being considered as potential signings to enhance their offensive capabilities. With Higgins out for the season, the team may depend on Xavier Hutchinson, Noel, and Dell to support star receiver Nico Collins. While the Texans are assessing their options, further details on any potential signings have yet to be disclosed.
