Seager’s Power Provides Margin
Corey Seager’s solo home run in the third inning proved to be the critical difference in a tightly contested matchup at Kauffman Stadium. The blast, which traveled 391 feet to right field, extended the Texas Rangers’ lead to 3-0 and shifted the momentum away from the home team. Seager finished with the game’s only home run, a key offensive contribution in a contest where runs were at a premium.
The Rangers’ offense generated four total runs, overcoming a strong pitching performance from Kansas City early in the game. Seager’s homer was the third run of the contest for Texas, capping an inning that saw him capitalize on earlier action to take the lead.
Rangers Rally in Middle Frames

Seager scored on the play, giving the Rangers a 1-0 advantage, though Nimmo was thrown out at third base on a fielder’s choice. The Rangers added another run in the second inning when Adolis Díaz reached on a bunt single to third base, allowing Josh Duran to score. The play left Díaz on first and Nathaniel Lowe at second.
Kansas City responded in the fourth inning when Bobby Witt Jr. grounded into a double play, but Salvador Perez scored to make it 3-1. The Royals tied the game shortly after when Hunter Renfroe singled to right field, scoring MJ Melendez to make it 3-2. However, the Rangers regained the lead in the sixth inning when Josh Smith singled to right field, allowing Duran to score and extend the advantage to 4-2. The Rangers’ offense did not add any further runs, holding on for the win.
