Caglianone Powers Offensive Surge

Jac Caglianone delivered a decisive offensive performance, hitting two home runs to help the Kansas City Royals secure a 5-3 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, June 9, at Kauffman Stadium. The two long balls accounted for all five of the Royals' runs in the contest, providing the necessary firepower to overcome a Rangers team that had shown early resilience.

Early Scoring and Rangers Pressure

The Rangers established an early lead in the second inning when Burger singled to left field, allowing Langford to score and putting Duran in scoring position. The Texas bullpen maintained control through the middle innings, with Nathan Eovaldi pitching 5.2 innings for the loss. Eovaldi allowed four hits and four earned runs while striking out three batters before being lifted.

The Rangers managed to tie the game in the fourth inning. Carter scored on a throwing error by Royals catcher Jensen, and another run followed on a subsequent throwing error by the same catcher, leveling the score at 2-2. Texas relief pitchers Jalen Beeks, Cole Winn, and Robby Ahlstrom worked the final two innings, with Beeks surrendering one earned run in 0.2 innings of work.

Sixth Inning Breaks the Game Open

Kansas City took the lead in the fifth inning when Caglianone launched a 421-foot home run to right center field. The Royals extended their advantage in the sixth inning against Eovaldi. Garcia tripled to right field to score Jensen, tying the game at 2-2. Pasquantino then hit a ground-rule double to score Garcia. Immediately following that play, Caglianone hit his second home run of the night, a 431-foot shot to right center that also scored Pasquantino, pushing the Royals ahead 5-2.

Closing Out the Win

Stephen Kolek started for Kansas City, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing eight hits and one earned run. He was relieved by Steven Cruz, who pitched 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts to earn the win. Daniel Lynch IV pitched a perfect inning for his eighth hold, followed by John Schreiber, who recorded his fourth hold in 0.2 innings. Alex Lange closed the game with a scoreless 1.0-inning appearance, striking out two batters for his fourth save.

Seager scored in the seventh inning on a groundout by Seager, making the final score 5-3. The Royals improved their record to 28-39, while the Rangers fell to 32-34. The game drew an attendance of 25,075 spectators to Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
