The Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints have each been fined $500,000 by the NFL following a joint practice that was marred by multiple altercations. This decision comes after a particularly intense practice session that reportedly saw over ten fights, with incidents involving pushing, shoving, and punches. Cowboys edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku was ejected after throwing a punch, marking his second ejection during training camp.
In a recent practice, a confrontation occurred between tight end Jake Ferguson and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, reportedly ignited by Ferguson's reaction to a tackle, which led him to throw the ball at Overshown. Fortunately, this incident was quickly resolved without further escalation.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his disappointment regarding the fights, noting that they interfered with the team’s practice objectives. He stressed the importance of maintaining focus during training, stating that the team aims to utilize their practice time effectively.
With the joint practices now behind them, the Cowboys are shifting their focus to their upcoming preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night.
