The agreement covers approximately one-third of the semiconductors required for the facility, nearly doubling the company's chip spending with Texas Instruments.
The partnership highlights the growing importance of Texas Instruments' domestic manufacturing footprint and its broad portfolio of analog and embedded chips. Appliance manufacturers are increasingly seeking reliable, domestically sourced components to support the development of smarter, connected products. This long-term supply relationship is anchored in Texas Instruments' U.S. fabrication capacity.
Texas Instruments' investment narrative suggests that its focus on analog and embedded chips, supported by significant U.S. manufacturing investment, aims to sustain profits despite industry cycles. While the GE Appliances deal underscores the value of domestic fabs, analysts note it does not materially alter the primary near-term factor: how effectively the company fills its expanding 300mm capacity without pressuring margins.
Recent government support also plays a role in this strategy. In December 2024, Texas Instruments received up to US$1.6 billion in CHIPS Act funding for new 300mm fabs in Sherman and Lehi. This funding supports a larger U.S.-based manufacturing footprint intended to win more domestically sourced business, though it also carries the risk of underutilized capacity if demand or pricing soften.
Analyst perspectives on Texas Instruments vary. Some cautious analysts assume only about 10 percent annual revenue growth, projecting roughly US$25.9 billion in revenue. They view higher capital expenditure and supply growth as factors that could tighten free cash flow and compress valuations over time.
