The Houston Cougars have enhanced their defensive lineup by signing safety Myles Rowser, who previously played for the Arizona State Sun Devils. This move comes as new NCAA eligibility regulations allow players from the 2022 class, who did not redshirt or enter a professional NFL contract, to secure an extra season of eligibility.
Rowser did not redshirt his freshman year and participated in nine games with the Campbell Camels. He also attended a rookie minicamp for the Seattle Seahawks but did not sign a professional deal. His college career includes time at Campbell in 2022, New Mexico State in 2023, and Arizona State from 2024 through 2025.
Over his career, Rowser has accumulated 295 total tackles, with 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, 16 passes defended, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. In the 2025 season, he played in all games for Arizona State, recording a career-high of 84 tackles, four tackles for loss, three passes defended, and a fumble recovery.
His performance earned him a place on the All-Big 12 Third Team.
The Cougars already have a solid safety lineup with experienced players Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who had 71 and 48 tackles respectively last season. They also added Tulane safety Javion White, who made 50 tackles last year. With Rowser's addition, the Cougars may consider adjustments to their lineup, potentially shifting one of their safeties to the nickel corner position.
