The Houston Texans have made a trade to acquire wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots. Boutte confirmed the move on social media prior to an official announcement from either team. Reports suggest that the Texans sent safety Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round draft pick for 2028 to New England in exchange for Boutte.

This trade follows an injury to Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who suffered a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. Higgins was anticipated to play a significant role alongside star receiver Nico Collins. Last season, he achieved 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie.

Kayshon Boutte, selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, had a successful season last year, recording 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns. The Patriots had an excess of wide receivers after acquiring A.J. Brown in June and signing Romeo Doubs to a four-year, $68 million contract in March.

Additionally, the Texans signed veteran receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard over the weekend to help address the gap left by Higgins' injury. Details regarding the Texans' strategy for the upcoming season remain unclear.
