The Houston Texans have made roster changes following injuries sustained during their preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Quarterback Graham Mertz is now on the Reserve/Injured list due to a knee injury confirmed by an MRI, which will end his season. Rookie running back Joshua Pitsenberger has also been placed on injured reserve after suffering an ankle injury late in the game.
Mertz's injury occurred just before halftime, compounding the Texans' challenges as they were already managing multiple injuries prior to this game. Pitsenberger's injury came just before the contest concluded. The Texans' injury report also includes several other players, including Ja'Marcus Ingram (shoulder), Collin Wright (soft tissue strain), and Jake Hansen (ankle).
Despite these issues, the Texans have maintained their starting lineup largely unchanged, apart from linebacker E.J. Speed, who had an injury earlier in the offseason.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans and his staff are expected to closely review their options as they look to make additional roster changes during training camp. The team is focused on ensuring depth and performance as they progress through the preseason. More details about further roster moves are anticipated as the Texans assess the impact of these injuries on their upcoming games.
