Cavalli Throws 11 Ks as Nationals Shut Out Rangers 6-0

Cade Cavalli struck out 11 batters over six scoreless innings to lead the Washington Nationals to a 6-0 victory over the Texas Rangers on Thursday.

Cavalli Dominates on the Mound

Cade Cavalli struck out 11 batters over six scoreless innings to lead the Washington Nationals to a 6-0 victory over the Texas Rangers on Thursday at Globe Life Field. The pitcher allowed just three hits and one walk while recording the win, improving his record to 11-5. It was his second consecutive game with double-digit strikeouts.

The Rangers failed to score a run in the contest, leaving them with a 62-65 record.

Nationals Build Lead Early

The visiting team took control of the game in the middle innings. In the third inning, Tena homered to center for a 1-0 lead. The Nationals extended their advantage in the fourth when Ruiz singled to right, allowing Chaparro to score and make it 2-0.

By the sixth inning, Vivas grounded out to the pitcher, which drove in Chaparro and moved Ruiz to third, giving Washington a 3-0 lead. The Rangers remained scoreless throughout their half-innings at the plate.

Late Surge and Bullpen Work

The Nationals added three more runs in the seventh inning to seal the result. Chaparro homered to left, driving in Ortiz and Tena to make the final score 6-0. Will Dion pitched one hitless, scoreless inning with one strikeout to close the game.

Max Kranick and Jake Bird each pitched one inning without allowing earned runs, with Kranick allowing one hit and Bird recording one strikeout.

Rangers Pitching Line

Kumar Rocker took the loss, pitching five innings while allowing six hits and two earned runs. He walked one batter and struck out three, dropping his record to 4-10. Cole Winn pitched one inning, allowing two hits and one earned run.

Peyton Gray pitched one inning, allowing one hit, three earned runs, and two walks. Jordan Montgomery pitched two innings, allowing one hit and no earned runs while striking out two batters. The attendance was 23,963.
