Tayven Jackson Set to Start as Quarterback for North Texas in Season Opener

Tayven Jackson has been named the starting quarterback for North Texas ahead of their game against Indiana.

Tayven Jackson has been designated as the starting quarterback for the North Texas Mean Green as they gear up to face Indiana University on September 5, 2026. Previously a player for the Hoosiers, Jackson has had a diverse college football journey.

His career includes limited appearances at Tennessee in 2022 and participation in 13 games for Indiana during the 2023-24 season, where he completed 61.2% of his passes, throwing six touchdowns and six interceptions.

In 2025, he moved to the University of Central Florida, where he achieved a completion percentage of 63.5%, totaling 2,151 passing yards, ten touchdowns, and eight interceptions, contributing to the Knights' overall record of 5-7.

Before entering college football, Jackson excelled at Center Grove High School, where he threw for 4,813 yards and 47 touchdowns between 2018 and 2021, leading his team to an undefeated Class 6A championship. Tayven Jackson is also the brother of Trayce Jackson-Davis, who was the 2019 Indiana Mr. Basketball and is currently in his fourth season with the Toronto Raptors.

The upcoming game between North Texas and Indiana is scheduled to kick off at noon and will be aired on Fox.
